FACILITY UPDATE: COVID-19
As you know, the nine counties of the Bay Area recently extended their stay-at-home order through May 3rd 2020. Due to this mandate, and the premium importance we place on the safety of both our employees and guests, all three Sharks Ice facilities, including Solar4America Ice at San Jose, Solar4America Ice at Fremont and the Oakland Ice Center, will be closed through May 3rd. We will continue to assess local, regional and state guidelines as they evolve to determine when and how we get back on the ice.
In the meantime, our Sharks Ice Management Team is meeting daily to ensure we are fully prepared to welcome you back once we can safely return. It is our intention to complete the winter seasons of Learn to Skate, In-House Hockey and Adult Hockey that were disrupted due to these closures. We will do our best to communicate to each of our ice sports communities about what the schedule will look like through direct communications as well as updates on our websites. Once we are back open and operating, we will assess the process for refunds and credits based on our ability to reschedule programs that were missed. We thank you, in advance, for your patience and understanding about the changing nature of the situation and will try to keep you up to date on the most current information we have as we move forward.
While we are working from home, our thoughts are never far from the ice and our customers. Our coaches, instructors and managers have been sharing tips for staying sharp and in shape while away from the ice. We encourage all of you to check out our skating Pro Tips page for workout plans and messages. Our social media outlets including Solar4America Ice, Oakland Ice Center and San Jose Jr. Sharks will also keep you connected to us and the sports that you love. And of course, our management team will continue to be available via email to address any specific questions that might arise.
Our hockey and skating community is strong. YOU are the biggest reason we love doing what we do! We are confident we will come out of this unprecedented time even stronger. In the meantime, stay home and stay safe!
In accordance with the shelter in place mandate from all local county governments, our Sharks Ice Network of Rinks (Solar4America Ice in San Jose and Fremont and the Oakland Ice Center) will be closed through April 7th. We appreciate your continued support and we look forward to seeing you back at the rink as soon as possible! Stay safe.
Today, several counties and municipalities placed more severe restrictions on public gatherings and announced broad-sweeping closures of public facilities. After much consideration, the Sharks Ice Network of rinks (Solar4America Ice at San Jose and Fremont, and the Oakland Ice Center) have chosen to remain closed through Sunday, March 22nd. Before re-opening, we will reassess the then-current local, state and federal guidelines and recommendations. We appreciate our customers’ patience and understanding as we move forward on a week by week basis.
Until we determine the exact date for re-opening, we are unable to provide a cohesive plan for rescheduling and/or other compensatory measures for missed events. Thank you for your understanding in this regard.
The health and safety of our patrons and employees are paramount, and we are happy to do our part to try to limit the spread of COVID-19 in our communities.
We thank you for your continued support, and look forward to seeing you back at the rinks as soon as possible.
As we continue to monitor the developing situation with the COVID-19 virus, the Sharks Ice Network of public skating facilities (Solar4America Ice in San Jose and Fremont and the Oakland Ice Center) will temporarily close operations to the general public for three days beginning Friday, March 13 through Sunday, March 15. We will reopen on Monday, March 16 for normal programming. During this pause, we will use the opportunity to enhance our cleaning practices and to assess upcoming events and programming to determine the best schedule that will comply with all governmental mandates for the communities safety.
The Norcal “A” Championships that were scheduled to be played at Solar4America Ice at San Jose have been postponed to a later date.
While information from the local, state and federal government is changing rapidly, please continue to follow our social channels and website for updated information. We thank all of our guests for their patience and understanding during this time.
Information about reschedule or other compensatory measures for canceled programs will be released shortly.
The Sharks Ice network of public ice facilities is aware of the recommendations made by the Santa Clara County Public Health Department and we continue to actively monitor the situation.
At this time, all ice facilities (Solar4America Ice at San Jose, Solar4America Ice at Fremont, and the Oakland Ice Center operated by Sharks Ice) remain open and in operation. Protocol is that each facility is cleaned daily to preserve a healthy environment for all patrons. This includes a thorough cleaning and sanitization of all high-traffic areas including the front desk, food and beverage areas, restrooms, public seating areas, locker rooms, and player bench areas.
As a standard practice, ANY potential guest who is feeling ill, regardless of their symptoms, should always refrain from visiting public spaces and attending public events.
For all of our guests, we ask the following:
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
- If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash and clean your hands.
